Propolis, also known as bee glue, is produced by honeybees from the anti-microbial resin they collect from the leaves, flowers and barks of plants and trees. The resin is combined with beeswax, secretions from the bee's salivary glands and pollen. It is used as a sealant and sterilizer in honeybee nests. The color varies from yellow, to brown or black, depending on the plants that the resinous substance was collected from, and the colour (and chemical composition) will vary with the local flora (geographical location and season) and foraging preferences (bee species).

Propolis has an extensive record of traditional use as an anti-inflammatory, especially in Europe and ancient Egypt. It has traditionally been used for infections, the common cold, throat inflammation, wounds and burns. In modern times, it has been found to have a wide range of biological actions, including but not limited to, antibacterial, antiviral, fungicidal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, hepatoprotective, free-radical scavenging, immunomodulatory, anti-diabetic, local anesthetic and radioprotective. UK law limits us from writing much on this page about the properties and uses of propolis, so please do your own research.

This particular propolis was sourced in the pristine prealpine regions of Italy, where the hives are looked after with the upmost care according to organic standards. The high potency tincture was produced in line with the moon cycles and using high quality filtered and structured water. Small parts of the propolis have been retained within the tincture for extra potency, so please shake well before use!

Suggested usage:

Start cautiously. Although propolis rarely produces an allergic response, it is best to start with a small dosage. It is recommended that a small portion be taken first before going to bed. If in the morning, no unfavourable symptoms are observed, the popolis can be continued. Caution - if after one week to ten days you do not observe any results, then you should stop using it. If the propolis use results in a healing, stop again. If it is necessary, repeat the treatment again after 20 days or a month, but do not let the system get accustomed to it. Continuous exposure to propolis may also irritate the part on which it is used.

Generally speaking, apply externally as required or take 4-5 drops in water. Start with 1 drop before increasing dosage. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Store in a cool, dark place.
